Principal Nick Franc and partner Faye currently live on the property settled by Nicks grandfather Allan Thompson who founded the Jinamoc Stud in 1953. Allan, a returned airman from World War II acquired Jinamoc through the Soldier Settlement Scheme and had great success with his stud winning grand champion ribbons at shows all over Australia.
Nicks parents Ada and Jill started the Koornang Park Angus Stud in 1967, which today has become Francs Angus. Currently Nick and Faye with Ada and Jill farm 2,700 acres on various blocks in the Stoneleigh, Caranballac District. Comprising of he Angus Stud plus running a crossbred sheep operation, turning off trade lambs.
The cattle calve in both Autumn and Spring, ensuring we have a selection of bulls all year round, to meet clients varying needs.
Our objective at Francs Angus is to provide well balanced cattle that are low maintenance and easy handling. Cattle have to be docile and structurally sound. We are in the business of breeding cattle first and foremost. Figures and EBU’s are used in the selection of sires and we are using the latest HD 50K Geonomic Testing on all bulls.
We look for balanced figures in both growth and carcass, Phenotype and structure is our Number 1 priority. We have been using A.I. since the 1980s to enhance genetic gain, utilizing both Australian and overseas sires that we believe will benefit our herd.
We are a family run operation that doesn’t follow fads or the latest trends, after 64 years in the industry we believe we do most things right.
